Ben Whittaker speaks out for first time to provide update on bizarre new injury after falling from ring

Ben Whittaker has broken his silence after being injured following a fall outside the ring against Liam Cameron.

Whittaker faced resilient star Cameron, in what was considered a good match for “Benzo” to continue his hot streak, as his stardom continued to grow.

But that proved to be anything but, as he struggled in a firefight with Cameron, before an incident knocked the pair out of the ring.

The British left the ring in a wheelchair after a few moments of treatment, he was unable to continue and the fight was declared a draw.

It is now unlikely to return before 2025, when an immediate sequel should be sought.

And in a social media post, “The Surgeon” revealed that he will be back in the near future.

The caption first read: “Injury update. Just left my last session with my physical therapist and this is the last one.”

Whittaker then posted a clip from the movie Talladega Nights, in which Ricky Bobby, played by Will Ferrell, has convinced himself that he is paralyzed and is in a wheelchair.

At the end of the clip, he gave fans an update, adding: “Being back soon. Don’t worry.

“The return is going to be incredible.”

Whittaker now faces an uphill battle to get back into shape to face Cameron again and restore his dominant start to life in the ring.

He struggled with the sturdy Briton, who was extremely disappointed with the outcome of the proceedings.

“It was a bad night for Ben,” Shalom told talkSPORT Drive. “I have never seen Ben Whittaker perform like that.

Simon Jordan urges Ben Whittaker to take revenge against Liam Cameron after surprising fight in Saudi Arabia

“I knew from the first round that he wasn’t right. His energy level, his timing and he was getting hit with shots that he normally never got caught with.

“Ben Whittaker, in the right frame of mind, should have no problem with Liam Cameron, so huge changes for him now.

“I feel for him in a way. He became one of the most recognizable faces overnight, but he has to do things right in the ring.

“But I think he’ll be the one to do it. He’s in bad shape and he’s a perfectionist.

“He will do with it exactly what he should and he will come back.

“I believe we will see that rematch, but he has to go through a rehabilitation process first. I don’t know (how long) yet.

“He won’t fight this year. He was scheduled to return in December but he won’t be available then.”
