There’s something in the water – or the beer – in the West.

For the second time in four months, police were called to a golf course in Burnaby, British Columbia, after an altercation between golfers.

A drunken golfer was arrested earlier this month after crashing a driver into another player’s head, with the incident caught on camera.

The altercation took place Oct. 12 at Burnaby Mountain Golf Course when an argument turned physical between two duffers.

In a video posted on X by BCTV, a golfer wearing a pink shirt can be heard saying: “You hit it towards me. »

The other golfer, wearing a white hat and dark-colored shirt, walked over and replied, “Do you want to play with me?” He then raised his right arm while holding a driver and seemingly pinned the first man with a thud heard in the clip.

“What’s wrong with you?” one of the golfers on the course can be heard saying. “Call the fucking cops!”

Another in a black shirt and hat then approached the alleged attacker to calm him down, asking him to drop the club, the head of which was no longer attached to the handle following the violent blow.

After a brief moment curled up on the ground, the golfer in the pink shirt seemed able to get up and walk away under his own power.

Cops told Burnabynow that the 43-year-old suspect was intoxicated and arrested at the scene without further incident along the way.

The suspect now risks being attacked, particularly with a weapon. He has since been released pending his court date.

The outlet also reported that the victim suffered only minor injuries.

“This is the second time Burnaby officers have encountered a fight on a golf course since June,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj told Burnabynow. “It is unacceptable to engage in a physical altercation like this in a recreational establishment. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries. »

The first incident Kalanj was referring to was a nasty fight that broke out at Riverway Golf Course in June.

In June, police were called to break up a fight between two groups of golfers on the course after one allegedly nearly hit the other with his ball “several times.”
