In Emmet County, contested races include Suzanne Kanine (right) and Elizabeth Lohman (right) competing for county clerk. In the county’s 1st District, Democrat Mark Sommers will challenge Republican incumbent Charles Laughbaum while in the 3rd District, Democrat Courtney Wilber will challenge Republican incumbent Don Mapes.

In Harbor Springs, there are contested races for mayor — Tom Graham versus Nancy Rondel — as well as for city council and the Harbor Springs Public Schools board of education.

Some of the notable millage proposals on today’s ballot include an ordinance repeal proposal in Harbor Springs and library service millages in Bear Creek and Resort townships.

Other proposals up for a vote today include school villages, funding for road repairs and more.
