GAME DAY: Utah Hockey Club at Jets

WINNIPEG- The Winnipeg Jets opened a four-game home series Sunday afternoon with a 7-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning. They’ll look to continue their impressive start to the season as Utah comes to town Tuesday night for the first of three straight Central Division matchups. This will be the first-ever matchup between the two teams following Utah’s departure from Arizona this offseason.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “There are times when I am needed more than others. During this good period that we have had, I had the impression of being at the forefront of everything that was happening. I just need to make sure that you don’t let anything go easy and that you don’t let the game get out of hand around you. You control your bounces and make sure there is no extra jamming. That being said, the guys played really well in front of me and I was able to see and control everything. We’re not even giving up much zone time at the moment. » – Connor Hellebuyck on the quality of play of his teammates.

STAT(S) OF THE DAY: The third period was Winnipeg’s most productive so far this season. They lead the league in third period goals with 23 and have managed to shut down teams in the third period allowing the second fewest third period goals this season with eight. The +15 third period goal differential is the highest of any team this season.

The Jets will hold their morning skate at the Canada Life Center at 10:30 a.m. CT. Check back here for any programming changes or news later today.
