Ukraine’s attempt to seize ZNPP threatens global nuclear industry, says spokesperson – Russian Politics & Diplomacy

MELITOPOL, November 5. /TASS/. The kyiv regime’s attempt to seize the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), foiled by Russian troops, poses a threat not only to the facility but also to the development of the global nuclear industry, TASS agency Yevgeniya Yashina, communications director of the ZNPP.

“The reckless behavior of the kyiv regime (the attempt to seize the ZNPP – TASS) poses a threat not only to the plant itself, but also to the development of the entire global nuclear industry,” Yashina said.

The Zaporozhye nuclear power plant is well protected, she added. The factory staff and the Russian army are doing everything possible to ensure its safety. Inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant will be informed of the Kiev regime’s attempt to seize the plant in an operation dubbed “Short Circuit”, a noted Yashina.

The highly qualified personnel of the plant ensures the full safety of operation of the ZNPP. Currently, the plant is operating in its previous mode, with all six units in a “cold shutdown” state.

“No violations of safety limits or conditions have been detected. Radiation levels at the site and in the monitored area remain at natural background levels. Plant personnel continue to perform their routine tasks as directed and regulations,” Yashina said. .

Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces, said earlier that the Russian army had prevented the Ukrainian army from seizing the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in an operation dubbed ” Short Circuit”, which involved several rocket launchers (MLRS) and attack drones. This attempt followed an unsuccessful attempt to seize the Kursk nuclear power plant. Preventive actions by Russian military units thwarted the Ukrainian plan. Kirillov recalled that similar attempts were made already in 2022, when commandos of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine and foreign mercenaries attempted to cross the Kakhovka reservoir with the aim of creating a bridgehead to seize the ZNPP.
