IAF MiG-29 fighter jet crashes near Agra during training

An Indian Air Force (IAF) MiG-29 fighter jet crashed near Agra on Monday (November 4) during a routine training sorties. The pilot, after detecting a critical system malfunction, managed to move the aircraft away from populated areas, ensuring that there were no casualties or material damage on the ground.

Following this, the pilot ejected from the aircraft safely and is believed to be unharmed.

The MiG-29 had taken off from Adampur air force base in Punjab as part of an ongoing training exercise. Sources in the Ministry of Defense, speaking to ANI, confirmed that a commission of inquiry has been tasked to investigate the causes of the accident.

The investigation aims to assess whether the malfunction was due to technical problems within the plane or other external factors.

The incident comes as the IAF continues its routine training programs, preparing personnel and testing equipment amid heightened vigilance.

Authorities have cordoned off the crash site and a team of experts is expected to arrive to conduct a detailed analysis of the wreckage and collect relevant data.
