This once-rare vintage dive watch style is making a comeback

Impressively, Yema’s Super Compressor doesn’t skimp on water resistance. Super compressors have their limitations, which is part of the reason they’ve fallen out of favor: Newer technology and better seals allow for deeper dives. The Christopher Ward Super Compressor tops out at 150m, while the Sherpa and RZE can withstand 200m of pressure. The Yema, however, manages to outdo them all with a robust 300m water resistance.

The new French-made watch is also the size of a vintage diver, measuring just 38.5mm in diameter, making it the smallest modern Super Compressor on the market. The watch is powered by the YEMA2000 caliber, an internal motor with a power reserve of 42 hours and an accuracy of +/- 10 seconds per day. Again, this sets Yema apart from other modern Super Compressors, as it is the only one with a completely internal movement.

Pricing and availability

Even though the new Yema Navygraf Super Compressor looks impressive, its price is definitely not the same. The latest Super Compressor is also the most affordable on the market and is priced under $1,000. (RZE does not currently offer the Resolute Supercompressor, which had an MSRP of just $699.)

There are three strap options for the Navygraf Super Compressor. On a Tropic rubber strapit’s $949. On a steel mesh bracelet, it costs $990. Finally, you can get the watch on a dust-repelling FKM Viton rubber strap that includes a deployment clasp for $1,129. The watch is available now from Yema with a black or blue dialwith shipping planned for the end of November.
