Republicans nearly 3 million raw votes continue to widen their lead over Democrats

Democrats will have to make up a lot of ground over the weekend and hope to win on Election Day.

Although it is possible for people to cross partisan lines in their voting choices, the more likely outcome is that they vote as they are registered.

And if so, Democrats are in a deeper hole every day, like Republicans continue to assert an advantage in in-person participation that Democrats counter to a limited extent by superior performance in mail voting.

All figures here extend through the end of October and are collated by the Florida Secretary of State Desk.

A total of 2,072,374 Republicans voted in person, as well as 923,497 by mail.

In contrast, only 1,126,301 Democrats have turned out to vote so far. Another 1,091,810 people sent absentee ballots.

Democrats could extend their lead in mail-in voting even further, as they have 366,673 ballots left to mail, compared to 286,640 Republican ballots.

A total of 2,995,581 Republicans voted at the close of business Thursday, while 2,218,111 Democrats did the same.

A total of 4,122,048 voters cast early ballots in person, while 2,609,912 sent absentee ballots.
