Aaron Judge changed the World Series

It was a Hollywood party in the South Bronx after the Yankees smothered a five point lead in the deciding Game 5 of the World Series.

During postgame celebrations, Dodgers owner Ervin “Magic” Johnson said Harold Reynolds of MLB Network his reaction to Aaron Judge’s fumble in the fifth inning was “thank goodness.”

“(The Yankees) rocked this stadium,” the Lakers legend said while celebrating the Dodgers’ 7-6 victory after the game. “And once that happened, the whole momentum changed.”

The judge made a critical error by dropping a lazy ball hit him as the Yankee captain looked away from the ball in the fifth inning with the team leading 5-0.

The eventual tying rally suddenly had legs.

Anthony Volpe followed with an error to load the bases with no outs, taking a ground ball from Dodgers catcher Will Smith and bouncing his Jazz Chisholm throw on a force play to third base.

Starting pitcher Gerrit Cole also didn’t cover the first goal on a play that would have taken him out of the inning.

The comedy of errors essentially gave the Dodgers six outs in the inning, helping Los Angeles score five runs to tie the game, in a collapse of epic proportions.

“It was a game changer for us,” Johnson said, while Reynolds responded, “Without a doubt.”

“Now here we are, scoring five points, and then I thought we had a chance because the stadium went quiet and we got excited and congratulated ourselves. We got emotional now and that’s what really helped us,” concluded Johnson.

Johnson also added that he was ready to gas up to go home and play Game 6 in Los Angeles, as the Yankees appeared to be on the verge of their second series victory.

Instead, they’ll just have to return to Hollywood for a victory parade while the Yankees search for answers.

The Yankees have lots of questions that will need to be answered before the offseasonwhile most of the Dodgers team remains under contract for the 2025 season.
