Eamonn Holmes is apparently all loved up in his new romance with relationship therapist Katie Alexander.

But their blossoming romance followed two broken marriages: Eamonn, to his wife of 14 years, Ruth Langsford, both 64, and Katie, to her ex-husband, George Alexander.

While Eamonn and Ruth’s split made headlines last May, the same can’t be said for the GB News presenter’s new love. Here we take a look back at what happened between Katie, 45, and her ex-husband, 53, which led to the breakdown of their marriage.

George, who was married to Katie from 2010 until their divorce in 2022, recently opened up about their split. Although he made it clear his ex-wife’s relationship with Eamonn played no part in it, he admits the two were in contact during their marriage.

Talk to The Sunhe explained: “I have a lot of sympathy for Ruth. I was heartbroken when my marriage to Katie ended.

“It took me a few years to get over it (so) I know how helpless Ruth must feel (but) Katie has a heart so she will feel bad for Ruth.”

George explained that Katie and Eamonn first connected through social media while they were still married. He told the outlet: “She didn’t swoon over him like he was George Clooney, but she loved being on social media and one day she said she got a response from her leaves.

“She had commented on one of his posts and Eamonn contacted him. I have to admit I laughed about it.” Although George insists that Katie’s contact with Eamonn was not the reason for their breakup, he noticed that after their divorce in 2022, Katie and Eamonn were hanging out more often.

In June, it was revealed that Katie and Eamonn had been seen together at a Beyoncé concert and at a safari park. The blonde beauty was later seen visiting his home in Surrey, and Eamonn reportedly showered her with gifts.

Despite everything, George has no hard feelings towards his ex-wife or Eamonn, joking: “I have nothing against him. If she had left me for him then it might have been different. I just hope that He treats Katie well. She’s a nice person.”

George first took on Katie in 2004, describing her as “absolutely stunning” and still looking as beautiful today. He recounted how they first met in a cafe.

His former flame was captivated by his fun personality and admitted he would always send her flowers because he couldn’t believe his luck.

George added that although they were 11 years older, they were “extremely happy” together, remembering popping the question to her over a bottle of champagne.

Meanwhile, Loose Women star Ruth reportedly told friends there was “no going back” after her 14-year marriage to Eamonn.

Although rumors swirled that his health issues played a role in their breakup, sources later revealed that Ruth was devastated after discovering messages between him and another woman.

Katie has been spending more time with Eamonn at his Surrey home, with the GB News presenter even inviting her to visit him in Belfast, where he has family.

Although Ruth was seen still wearing her wedding ring, Katie was also seen wearing a sparkler on her ring finger. Her new jewelry sparked speculation that Eamonn popped the question after just five months of dating.
