First water conservation policy presented by Lethbridge council

The City of Lethbridge is introducing a water conservation policy, the first of its kind for the city.

At Thursday’s PSC governance meeting, the board got its first look at the policy.

The purpose of the policy is to provide guidance on proactive water use and define responsibilities for managing the City’s water conservation program.

The policy will help protect and conserve resources, use them efficiently, mitigate long-term water availability, and raise public awareness of conservation efforts.

The city aims to reduce its water consumption by 20% by 2030.

The policy must still be approved by the city council.
