Jaxson Dart, Jordan Watkins earn national honors for Week 10

Jaxson Dart and Jordan Watkins had a day to remember this past Saturday, writing their names into the Ole Miss football record books and doing it in style during a 63-31 victory over Arkansas.

The win kept the Rebels firmly in the College Football Playoff discussion as they prepare for a Week 11 showdown at home against Georgia. And Week 10 performances earned Dart and Watkins hard-earned honors on Tuesday.

Dart was named Davey O’Brien National Co-Quarterback of the Week after lighting up the Razorbacks secondary for 515 passing yards and 6 touchdown throws. Dart has now thrown for a mind-boggling 3,210 yards, with 3 regular season games remaining, and he has thrown 21 touchdown passes against just 3 interceptions.

Last Saturday, Dart completed 25 of 31 passes and threw no interceptions, which made his performance even better. He shared the weekly Davey O’Brien Award with another SEC quarterback, South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers, who terrorized Texas A&M with his arm and legs in an upset victory over the Aggies.

Back to Ole Miss and Watkins, who caught a ridiculous 5 of Dart’s 6 touchdown passes in Week 10. The senior caught 8 total passes for a total of 254 yards, arguably the greatest performance of a wideout in Ole Miss history. For his efforts, Watkins was named the Walter Camp Offensive Player of the Week.

Dart and Watkins hope to do something similar this Saturday against the Bulldogs, with their playoff hopes on the line in Oxford.
