Asia's richest village is in Gujarat with Rs. 7,000 crores in the bank: know what makes it so rich

In Kutch district of Gujrat, there is a small village called Madhapur who became immensely famous for being the richest village in Asia. Although this village is not very large, it has only about 32,000 inhabitants and its financial resources are remarkable. Residents here are known for saving and investing money, enough to accumulate fixed deposits worth an astonishing INR 7,000 crores.
How did Madhapur become so rich?

Madhapar did not achieve this kind of wealth by chance or overnight. It’s the result of many years of hard work, saving, and wise financial decisions. The people of Madhapar, especially the Patel community, have worked very hard and have steadily increased their wealth by saving part of what they earn and investing in local banks.
In the village, most people have saved around INR 22 lakh in fixed deposits. This may seem surprising, but it’s because the villagers are very good at saving money and spending wisely. They strive to be financially independent and secure, which helps them save a lot over the years.
The role of NRIs

One of the main reasons for the immense wealth of Madhapur is due to the NRIs, non-resident Indians, who belong to this village. Many residents of Madhapur have moved to foreign countries such as Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom and some African countries. These NRIs are engaged in sectors like commerce, construction, etc. Although they live far from their home country, they constantly send large sums of money to Madhapur.
Every year, these NRIs transfer money to local banks as well as post offices. This practice contributed considerably to increasing the wealth of the village. It is noteworthy to note that 17 banks have currently been established in Madhapur, including the renowned ones, such as Axis Bank and HDFC. This is surprisingly unusual for a small village, but it highlights how much money flows through Madhapur.
How wealth benefited the village

The money coming into the village has helped meet its basic needs. Unlike many rural villages, Madhapar has good roads, clean water, parks and adequate sanitation. There are also schools, temples and public spaces that make life easier for residents.
How global connections help rural areas improve
Madhapar emphasizes that even a small village can improve and develop by staying connected to the world. While big cities are known for their wealth, Madhapar proves that rural areas can prosper if people work hard, save money and stay in touch with those abroad. With the help of its NRI community, Madhapar has built a strong economy, demonstrating that wealth is not reserved for big cities.
The importance of community
What makes Madhapar special is the closeness of the people. Even though many live far away, they still care about the village. They not only send money, they also keep it in local banks. This sense of community has helped the village grow and do well.
