Denver’s first snowfall of the season is expected Monday

DENVER — The first significant snowfall of the season is expected to arrive in Denver by Monday morning, with 1 to 3 inches expected to fall across the metro area.

Saturday will be the last dry day with above average temperatures – with highs in the 60s – before a slow-moving storm system arrives.

Mild and dry Saturday, before cold and snow next week!

This system will help create moderate rain showers Sunday evening. But as temperatures drop to around freezing overnight, that rain will turn to snow and continue into the morning before tapering off late Monday morning.

Up to 3 inches is forecast for the Denver metro area, with lighter amounts north of the metro and heavier amounts toward the Palmer Divide, where travel along Interstate 25 could be affected. Highs are expected to be in the 40s on Monday.

We will have a brief lull Tuesday between storms, but daytime temperatures will be even cooler in the upper 50s to mid 50s with dry conditions.

Another storm system will arrive on Wednesday, which could bring even more unstable weather conditions and continue through the remainder of the work week.

Meanwhile, with Denver’s first snowfall just days away, the mountains have already experienced winter conditions, prompting Keystone and Arapahoe Basin to open for business. for the season Saturday.
