Watch Fox News Collapse Over Independent Wives Vote – Mother Jones

The idea that women might vote differently than their husbands melted the brain of Fox News star Jesse Watters on air this week.

Referring to his current wife, Watters, with her characteristic smirk, told his colleagues The Five“If I found out Emma went into the voting booth and pulled the lever for Harris, that’s the same as having an affair.” This, from a man who admitted to his employer in 2017 that he was having a relationship with a colleague 14 years his junior, which allegedly led to his divorce from his first wife. “What else is she hiding from me?” Jesse mused, prompting laughter from his fellow panelists.

Beyond the hypocrisy, Mother Jones Creator Kat Abughazaleh says Watters’ reaction reveals the violent sexist resentment underlying this year’s campaign, embodied by Donald Trump, who this week vowed to protect women, “whether women like it or not.”

It’s an issue that Democrats and their anti-Trump allies have been keen to highlight, including former congresswoman and top Harris campaigner Liz Cheney, who told CBS Face the nation Wednesday“I think you’re going to have, frankly, a lot of men and women who will go into the voting booth and vote their conscience, vote for Vice President Harris.”

“They may never say anything publicly,” she added, “but the results will speak for themselves.”

Michelle Obama also captured this dynamic. “Remember that your vote is a private matter” she said at a rally in Michigan last weekend.

Soon, this private decision could have very public consequences – for the entire country.
