Armed police stormed the baggage hold of a plane after a mysterious noise was heard 30,000 feet above sea level.

American Airlines Flight AA954 was en route to new York from Buenos Aires on Thursday when the noises were heard.

He returned to the Argentine capital after 400 miles after the noises caused panic among passengers.

Armed SWAT teams then stormed and thoroughly searched the hold, but no one was found and the cause of the noises remains a mystery.

The delay was so severe that the flight could not continue and all 243 passengers were put up in hotels for the night.

A replacement flight took off on Friday, we learned.

In a statement, airport security said: “Noises were heard in the hold, enough to raise suspicion that there was something unusual.

“The captain mentioned a safety issue due to auditory noise.”

Heavily armed police and sniffer dogs were on standby when the flight returned.

Upon landing, passenger footage showed a SWAT team armed with guns and shields entering the hold.

In it, officers are transported to the plane’s fuselage on the elevator that usually lifts baggage.

Once they reached the top, they charged while other airport employees were seen nearby.

However, when the police entered the hold, they found no one.

They report: “The cargo hold was opened and unloading of the baggage containers began, with nothing other than normal parameters observed at that time.”

A similar incident occurred on a United Airlines flight on New Year’s Day 2017, when a baggage handler was stuck in the hold for an hour.

The man was stuck in the cargo hold as the plane flew from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Washington-Dulles International Airport.

Upon landing, the man who was an employee of a third-party baggage handler was unhurt.
