Here are the candidates for Ward 2 in the upcoming Saskatoon municipal election

Located in southwest Saskatoon, Ward 2 encompasses several residential and industrial neighborhoods.

The district includes the neighborhoods of Caswell Hill, Holiday Park, King Geroge, Meadow Green, Montgomery Place, Pleasant Hill, Riversdale and Westmount.

It also includes the CN Yard, Gordie Howe and SaskPower management areas, as well as the AgPro Industrial Areas, Confederation Urban Centre, South West Industrial Areas and West.

As of June 2022, Ward 2 had approximately 25,000 residents, according to a report from the Municipal Neighborhoods Commission.

Former Ward 2 councilor Hilary Gough is not seeking re-election, leaving an open race for six candidates seeking to fill her seat.

Here are the candidates vying for the Ward 2 seat:


Franklin Arthurs

Franklin Arthurs grew up in Holiday Park. He owned FasGas in Riversdale for three decades. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus.

If elected, Arthurs will advocate against shelters in Ward 2, as well as the downtown arena and public library proposal.

He is a husband and father.


Jean Beliveau

Jean Béliveau is a resident of Meadow Green. Béliveau holds a bachelor’s degree with a major in political science and a minor in economics, as well as a diploma in social services.

Among its priorities are the fight against homelessness and the search for long-term solutions.


Janna Corne

Janna Horn has spent most of her life in Saskatoon, living and working in Ward 2 for the past 14 years.

One of Horn’s goals is to advocate for community safety and fiscal responsibility by suspending major projects.


Fraser Kent

Fraser Kent has been a resident of Meadow Green for 20 years. Kent has experience in many industries including agriculture, construction estimating and project management.

He was a volunteer hockey coach and director of a minor hockey league. Among its priorities are community safety, financial accountability and a transparent budget process.


Karen Kobussen

Karen Kobussen is an entrepreneur. She is a lifelong resident of Saskatoon. If elected, Kobussen plans to revitalize vacant spaces and underutilized buildings, support development and focus on community safety.


Senos Timon

Senos Timon has lived in Meadow Green for 24 years. He has more than 20 years of experience leading nonprofit organizations. Among its goals are affordable housing, improved infrastructure and public transportation.

Municipal elections are scheduled for November 13.
