“Significant and unprecedented” seizure of weapons and drugs revealed in Surrey

RCMP in British Columbia say they have dismantled “Canada’s largest and most sophisticated pharmaceutical superlab” and revealed their findings at a news conference in Surrey on Thursday afternoon (Oct. 31).

Investigators say this seizure is the result of “significant enforcement measures against a transnational organized crime group suspected of being involved in the mass production and distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine in Canada and internationally.”

This past weekend, guns and drugs were seized in Surrey and at a laboratory in Falkland, British Columbia, in the Shuswap region, and were shown to the media at the Divisional Headquarters of the British Columbia RCMP in Surrey.

Police say 89 firearms were seized along with nearly half a ton of hard drugs.

One person has been arrested and investigators believe additional arrests may be made.

Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke told the Now-leader she was informed of this and added: “I am grateful for the good work of the RCMP in our city. »
