Black family in costumes grilling Halloween at the dining table.

Halloween is here and depending on where you live, you definitely won’t want it with the mild temperatures we’re experiencing in the Mid-Atlantic region. That said, beyond tricks and treats, adults across the country want in on the game. Halloween action too and we have a great list of cocktails that could give you some ideas for All Saints’ Day and the weekend.

I didn’t grow up with Halloween as a big part of my childhood, but after becoming a father, I finally got involved on that level. Plus, as I got older, I realized that a lot of adults take spooky season really seriously. Sure, I enjoy a good horror movie like any other horror fan, accompanied by movie theater snacks, but now I’m connecting with my neighbors over adult beverages while the kids knock on doors in their awesome costumes .

For this roundup, we tried to stick with the Halloween theme, and the camp of some of the cocktail names made me audibly laugh. Beyond that, some of the brands we feature make some really good staples and I’m always curious to see what people are doing with spirits here in this era. I know that when night falls, I will use this guide to inform how the rest of my evening will unfold, but not too much. We don’t want to overuse it in case things go wrong during the night.

Happy Halloween and enjoy your evening responsibly.

NOTE: I will update this summary until COB (5:30 p.m. ET)

Usually, I join other media professionals to sample Elysian Brewing’s annual lineup of pumpkin beers, but that didn’t happen this year. I also missed the 20th annual Great Pumpkin Beer Festival and definitely would have checked that one out. Maybe next year. Anyway, they have a new Pumpkin Patch beer sampler that I’m waiting to get my hands on.
