How we did it: D Magazine asked every certified financial planner in the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the Financial Planning Association to vote online. They were asked to nominate peers, both inside and outside their company, who they considered to be the most knowledgeable and experienced financial planners in the industry. Votes from outside the company counted more than votes from within the company. Self-nominations were rejected. A panel of esteemed local financial planners reviewed the list. Only CFPs were on the list. A total of 722 votes were cast and 225 people were nominated. Among them, 84 were selected.
