Can the Raiders catch a break from the spiraling season?

Hoping to make it this season, the Las Vegas Raiders once again suffered a blowout, losing 41-24 to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Gardner Minshew II threw for 124 yards, with a 58.8% completion percentage in Sunday’s loss, but Antonio Pierce’s Raiders appear to be on a losing streak with no end in sight. Not only did they lose, but they also gave the struggling Bengals a chance to sort things out in a live game.

The Raiders need to figure out their quarterback situation, but the decision to bring back Antonio Pierce could be one that could bite them in the back. The head coaching and quarterback positions are not set in stone for this Raiders team; the future seems far away.

If there were any upsides to this season, the Raiders could be in the running for the No. 1 overall draft pick, a pick in which fans would love to see a franchise player join the team.

There is still a lot to sort out for this team before fans can support their team. Fans coming into this season were hoping for a potential playoff push following last season’s second-half success, but the play these fans have endured thus far in the season is not one to brag about.

Fans can hold this win to Week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens, but that was 7 weeks ago. Beyond that game, the Raiders are 1-6 since then, while the Ravens’ current record is over .500 at 6-3.

If the Raiders wanted to be competitive, they would need to have Minshew in games where he can get reps and have enough success in games to keep the team in the game and give him the confidence that his coach trusts him .

Minshew has already been benched 3 times this season; surely it can’t bode well for the quarterback’s self-confidence.

Looking at the schedule of this struggling team, the Raiders have a bye week in Week 10 and return in Week 11 against another struggling team, the Miami Dolphins (2-7).
