The countdown to the elections is fast approaching. tensions rise ahead of what many are calling the most important elections in living memory: Two strong candidates with completely opposing worldviews face off, fighting for the votes that will give them leadership of the most powerful nation in the Western world.

Both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump know this religion in the United States is a key factor in winning votes of the people. Believing in God – and in a Christian God at that – is a key decision maker for many Americans to vote for the country’s leader.

What religion is Kamala Harris?

Harris’s upbringing was of mixed faith: A Hindu mother and a Christian Father took her to both a black Baptist church and a Hindu temple.

“On Sundays, my mother dressed my sister Maya and me in our best Sunday outfits and send us to the 23rd Avenue Church of God in Oakland, California, where Maya and I sang in the children’s choirshe told Interfaith Youth Core in 2020.

She added in her memoir that her mother took her children to a Black Baptist Church “to ensure that we become confident and proud black women.”

She goes to church regularly and during his election campaign, many references to Jesus and the Christian faith were used to spread his message to the people.

As for Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, he’s Jewish. If Kamala won, he would become the first-ever First Gentleman, as well as the first Jewish spouse in the White House.
