Fulham 2-1 Brentford: Marco Silva praises players ‘for not giving up’

Fulham boss Marco Silva after the 2-1 win Brentford: “We definitely deserved the three points. No doubt about it.

“We’ve seen a bit of what our season has been so far: being dominant in most games, being the best team on the pitch most games and creating a lot more chances than the opposing team. But the reality is that in some moments we didn’t get the points we deserve in the match.

“From the first minute, Fulham were in the lead. In the first 20 minutes of the match, I think we created two or three clear chances to score. And out of nowhere – they had nothing until that moment – shot 25 a few meters from the goal, and they scored.

“The reality is we didn’t lose confidence. We tried and tried, we kept pushing them away and trying lots of different ways to score, and the result was really unfair at halftime.

“I told the players we had to keep pushing hard, and it was going to be difficult for (Brentford) to keep blocking everything. I have to give them credit. They defended their box very hard – 10 players always around their surface, there are a lot of bodies But the reality is that we have not given up.

“Normally Harry Wilson plays more on the right side. At that time we tried him a little closer to Rodrigo in the pocket areas to get there. We know he feels it, he has the right timing to get into the box. We were rewarded for that.
