How to choose the right nude bra that won’t show through white tops

Among the many essential items a woman needs in her wardrobe, an invisible bra is one of the most important.

THE good underwear makes all the difference, especially when you’re wearing a white, sheer or clingy outfit and need lift and coverage without your underwear showing through the fabric.

In fact, it’s a good idea to have a number of them in your drawer, as they’re probably the style of lingerie you’ll use most often.

What type of bra will actually “disappear” under your clothes?

A nude bra – yes, but finding the right one isn’t always as easy as it seems.

Here is what you should pay attention to when buying itas well as where to find designs and a wider range of colors that will work.

1. GET THE CLOSEST MATCH TO YOUR SKIN TONE

The color of a nude bra is difficult to define, because beige is not necessarily a nude shade for everyone. It can be difficult to find an exact match for your skin tone, but you don’t have to—going for a close match is enough.

If you can’t decide whether you prefer a slightly lighter or slightly darker shade, know that the former will probably work better under light-colored clothing. However, the best way to be sure is to wear a white T-shirt when you go bra shopping, so you can try them on and get a feel for the effect in the fitting room.

2. LOOK BEYOND THE NUDE

Some neutral colors can also work well under a white or slightly sheer top. These are shades that aren’t exactly skin tone colors but are pretty close to them – think blush pink, peach, gray and other pastel shades. Of course, they may not be suitable for everyone, depending on your skin tone – but knowing this can open up a lot more options for you, if you don’t mind experimenting with other shades.

3. Go for a seamless style

It’s not just about color: the design of the bra matters too. Don’t want bra outline or seam lines showing under a tight or clingy top? A seamless bra, featuring fully smooth molded cups and a plain band and straps, is what you need. You’ll typically find these features in T-shirt bras, which are meant to be worn under fitted tops and designed so that they “disappear” under your clothes.

4. MAKE SURE THE FIT SUITS YOU

Even the best seamless bra won’t look seamless if the fit and size aren’t right for you. Bras come in many different styles: fuller busts will do better with a full-coverage bra or balconette bra, while plunge or demi-body styles are best suited to those with a smaller chest.

The right size is neither loose nor tight: gaping cups may be evident under your top, while a bra band that is too tight will create unsightly bulges and unflattering bra lines that will also show. If you’re having trouble finding the right size and fit, a bra extender hook can sometimes work wonders by providing some room for adjustment.
