Kamala Harris and Trump hold their final rallies on the eve of Election Day

The economy is the top issue for the first time, Gen Z voters who spoke to NBC News at Trump’s rally in Pittsburgh said this afternoon.

Ryan Jones, 21, said he supports Trump’s proposal to eliminate taxes on tips and overtime.

“Personally, I’m a big supporter of lower taxes, and in high school I worked in jobs where I made money through tips. So it would have allowed me to save a lot more for college, and I think it would have helped me a lot more in the long run,” he said.

Jones, a student at the University of Pittsburgh, says his friends are divided on who to vote for: Many of his classmates aren’t voting for Trump, but his friends in Butler County support him.

Kaeli Bennett, 18, dreams of becoming a homeowner and says housing was more affordable under the Trump administration.

“In the future, I want to be able to own a house. And when he was president, prices were much lower, especially for home buyers. And that’s a huge problem for me. I want to be able to own my own home. I want to be able to raise a family affordably,” she said.

Matthew Lonergan, 19, said the difference between the economy under Trump and Biden was “day and night.”

Biden and Harris “have actually done nothing but harm the country, and Trump has done nothing but help the country,” he said.

Another reason Lonergan is voting for Trump is because he sees Trump as more aligned with his Catholic faith. “As a Catholic, Jesus Christ is my lord and savior. Donald Trump supports Jesus, and that goes hand in hand with that,” he said.

Trump’s rally in Pittsburgh took place across the street from Duquesne University, a Catholic university.

Jenna Pindrock, 20, who is Catholic and describes herself as “pro-life,” said she had Catholic friends who were initially hesitant but were then put off by Harris when she told anti-protesters abortion: “you are at the wrong rally.
