Well, my wish came true much sooner than expected! “When the Lights Come On” has just finished its broadcast on the TV schedule 2024and Tyler Hoechlin and Michael Cudlitz’s characters traded blows in a pretty brutal brawl thanks to the level playing field. During the process, events unfolded that paved the way for India Navarrette’s Sarah Cortez to exit the show.

Clark and Luthor clashed in downtown Smallville

Because Luthor would not give up on taking revenge on Lois Lane, his daughter Elizabeth, played by Agents of SHIELD the former Elizabeth Henstridge, told him to stay out of her life forever, because she wouldn’t expose her soon-to-be son to that kind of hatred. Well, as we see at the beginning of “When the Lights Come On,” Luthor is once again taking the loss of Elizabeth very hard, as evidenced by him being violent in his hotel room and burns his photo of Elizabeth as a daughter and all the documents he received. had gathered to find her. But by the time Amanda McCoy returned, he regained his composure and gave her new instructions, including passing along the schematics of an unknown device for a scientist under his employ named Milton to build as soon as possible .

Lex Luthor’s efforts to establish LexCorp’s new headquarters in Smalltown (again, this is all part of his efforts to harass Lois) were hampered by bureaucracy thanks to Mayor Lana Lang, and in this episode it seemed like he finally overcame that by offering $5 million to the resident Aidy Manning for her land. However, she changed her mind in part due to the persuasive words of Lana and Clark, the latter having particularly affected her since, like many other residents of Smallville, she learned that Clark is Superman. Luthor countered by offering $10 million not only to Aidy, but to everyone else at the bar where she was supposed to sign the documents, but the other residents of Smallville convinced her not to give in, as they knew that this that Luthor was planning wouldn’t be good. for the community.

Upset by Lana Lang’s interference, Luthor disabled her home’s security system and sent his sidekick Otis Grisham to light the gas in her house and kill her. When Lana woke up from the smell and turned off the stove, Otis tried to perform the deed with his own hands, and only thanks to Sarah putting a bat over his head baseball team that he was arrested. Clark was understandably furious at how close his friend came to dying, so he called Luthor to the middle of downtown Smallville to turn him back once and for all.

However, Luthor had a trick up his sleeve: he had Milton equip all the streetlights in the area to emit the energy of the red sun, thus depriving Clark Kent of all his superhuman abilities. So the two men ended up fighting mano a mano outside in the pouring rain, with both men bloodied before too long. Luckily, Clark emerged victorious and asked Luthor to leave Smallville and never return. Luthor complied, but upon his return to Metropolis, Amanda McCoy (who decided to give him her full support) informed him that he was completely wrong in his approach to incapacitating Superman and that he needed to a “killer costume”. Sarah leaves Smallville to study abroad

If you followed with Superman and Lois from the beginning (and for those who need a refresher, the first three seasons can be streamed with a Maximum subscription), you know that Sarah Cortez has been through a lot, from almost committing suicide before the events of the show to being accused of drunk driving in season 3. Lately, aside from special events like the almost -her father’s marriage to Chrissy Beppo, Sarah’s life mainly consists of working at the restaurant and sleeping. She craves freedom and a fresh start, and although she can’t fly wherever she wants like Jonathan and Jordan, in “When the Lights Come On” she told her mother she wanted to travel to abroad for his first year of high school. school.

Initially, Lana was skeptical that this was the right decision for her daughter, but after the incident with Otis, she decided that Sarah should study abroad, not only to keep her away from the machinations of Lex Luthor, but because she deserved a chance to see the world. . When Sarah met Jordan and Jonathan the next morning, she told them she was planning to go to Santiago, Chile, or Greece for her freshman year, and the boysfeeling a little mischievous, decided to help him make his decision by flying him to the Greek islands.

It remains ambiguous whether we will see Sarah again before Superman and Lois is over, but given the fact that Inde Navarrette previously stated that she would only appear in three episodes of season 4then that would make “When the Lights Come On” the last of the trio. Let’s hope that’s not the case, because I’d love to see Sarah say goodbye to Erik Valdez’s Kyle Cushing before she goes to study abroad. But if “When the Lights Come On” is indeed the last time we’ll see Sarah, at least we know she’s ready to do big things.
