Roy Keane warns Amorim he has three ‘big problems’ he needs to resolve with Man Utd ‘going nowhere fast’

Ruben Amorim has been warned he has a huge task to revive Manchester United, with a worried Roy Keane naming three pressing issues that need to be addressed – while Jamie Redknapp also delivered a heartbreaking assessment of their team’s situation.

The Red Devils have turned to Amorim to replace the sacked Erik ten Hag, and the outgoing Sporting Lisbon manager will take his place in the hot seat from next Monday, November 11. Manchester United In 13th place and having managed just three wins in 10 Premier League matches, the well-regarded 39-year-old manager hopes the only way out is to move up to Old Trafford.

However, Keane sent Amorim a pragmatic message about United’s situation as a club and says he must find a way for the players he will inherit to work harder, not give in when things go against them and to score more goals if it has a chance of succeeding.

“There are a few players in the United team in important positions who can’t run, which is a big problem,” Keane said. Aerial sports. “But they also have players in the team who don’t want to run and when they run, they don’t run hard enough, fast enough, long enough, so he has to bring that into the locker room, that mentality. Players who don’t don’t, you have to try to move them forward.

“This team is not running, that’s a big problem. They have some really talented players, but if you don’t run, you’re not going to get anywhere fast.

He added: “This group of players don’t dig when the going gets tough, they sink, they sink too easily.”

United have also just scored nine times in 10 Premier League matches so far and Keane knows that is a major problem too.

“The lack of goals is a huge problem for Man United,” added Keane. “Every time I read the table, after nine or 10 games, minus three goals for Man Utd, it’s difficult to read.

Jamie Redknapp compares Man Utd’s performance to ‘pub football’

United are currently on minus three goals, while they also finished last season with a negative result in the for and against column after scoring 57 but conceding 58.

After watching them play out a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Old Trafford, fellow Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp criticized the quality of the performance, saying both teams were comparing themselves at a much lower standard than at they are actually found.

“Until the goal, it was a tough watch. It was sometimes like a pub game. From a United point of view, I’ve seen them play worse this season,” said former Liverpool star Redknapp.

“When I watch United, they play off the cuff. The organization will help me, but when I played against the best teams there was this chaos. They’ve always had this chaos, but I don’t know if they have good habits.

Despite this, interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy was disappointed his side failed to take all three points after Moises Caicedo equalized shortly after Bruno Fernandes’ early penalty.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t win, we had the best of chances in the match but overall the performance was fantastic. They left everything on the pitch,” he said. Aerial sports.

“It was a great moment, the goal when Old Trafford exploded. Bruno Fernandes did well and the emotion came through. This week has been special, I have enjoyed every second of it. I am here to help, I will support the new manager and ensure the growth of the club.

“We are behind the new manager, everyone at the new club is focused on the next two games which are very important but then we will work hard to make this club better every day.”

Latest Man Utd transfer news: Gyokeres snubs talks/first signing on cards

Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres is one man who could certainly contribute to United’s lack of power in attack. The Swede has already scored more goals this season than the United team combined.

With 20 goals and four assists in 16 outings so far, the Swede is in high demand, although he has clearly expressed his wish to stay in the Portuguese capital, at least for the moment.

“Are you going with Amorim to Manchester United? I don’t know,” Gyokeres replied when asked about the possibility of joining Amorim after his four-goal performance against Estrela on Friday night.

“I’m here. As you can see, I like Sporting.

“It’s nothing I really think about. I am sad about his departure (Amorim). We wish him all the best.

Meanwhile, reports in Spain claim United have ‘opened negotiations’ on deal that would make Jamal Musiala bomb, first signing of Amorim era at Old Trafford.

The Bayern Munich star is at the end of his contract in the summer of 2026 and discussions on an extension have not yet led to a positive outcome. As a result, United are keen to seize the opportunity to bring the playmaker back to English football – even though any deal is likely to break his club’s record.

Elsewhere, it is also reported that Amorim ready to green light return of Benfica full-back Alvaro Carreras.

The Red Devils continue to struggle for left-back options, but can solve the problem by removing the buyout clause in the Spaniard’s deal – something Amorim is reportedly willing to do.
