‘At whose request…’: India reports security lapse after Khastani extremists attack Hindu temple in Brampton | News from India

Attack on a Hindu temple in Canada: India on Monday expressed its strong disappointment at the violence that occurred at a Hindu temple in Brampton, Canada, declaring itself “deeply disappointed to see such disruptions allowed” during routine consular operations. India expressed concern about the lack of security and questioned “at whose behest such events were being organized in the first place.”

The development comes after Khalistan extremists invaded the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton on November 3, attacking worshipers and vandalizing property during the incident.

According to a statement from the Indian High Commission in Ottawa, similar attempts have been reported across the country. “There were also attempts to disrupt similar camps held in Vancouver and Surrey on November 2 and 3,” the press release said.

India questioned Canada’s security arrangements, saying: “In light of these incidents, and given the continued threats to Indian diplomats and officials…the organization of further consular camps scheduled will depend on the security arrangements made for them by local authorities. »

Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau thanked the police for their quick action, he wrote in an article on ‘X’: “Acts of violence perpetrated today at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton are unacceptable. Every Canadian has the right to practice their faith freely and safely. Thank you to Peel Regional Police for responding quickly to protect the community and investigate this incident.

Following skirmishes attributed to Sikh militants, a heavy police presence was established at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton. Several viral videos showed individuals breaking through the temple doors and attacking worshipers on the premises.

A Peel Regional Police spokesperson told the AFP news agency that no arrests had been made and police stopped short of blaming the reported violence.

Meanwhile, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown said: “Disappointed to hear of violence outside the Hindu Sabha in #Brampton. Religious freedom is a fundamental value in Canada.

He added in a post on “X”: “Everyone should feel safe in their place of worship. I strongly condemn any act of violence outside a place of worship.
