Man arrested with improvised firearm during traffic stop in Winnipeg

A 40-year-old man was arrested Sunday after police conducted a traffic stop for riding an electric bike on the sidewalk.

The incident occurred around 7:55 p.m. near Salter Street and Selkirk Avenue.

During the check, officers discovered part of what appeared to be a partially concealed firearm on the man. Upon further investigation, they seized an improvised firearm loaded with 12 gauge ammunition.

Edwin Wilfred Ducharme now faces several charges, including possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, prohibited device or ammunition and possession of a firearm.

Ducharme has been taken into custody as authorities continue their investigation.
