St. Johns’ Ava Schafer, Lansing Catholic girls and Hillsdale Academy boys all win state titles in cross country

BROOKLYN, Mich. (WILX) – The state finals for the Michigan boys and girls cross country teams took place Saturday afternoon at Michigan International Speedway, and Mid-Michigan saw two teams and one individual title win state securities.

In St. Johns Division 2, Ava Schafer finished first in the individual race with a time of 17:20.7 and a pace of 5:34. Schafer helped St. Johns finish 17th overall.

For Division 3, the Lansing Catholic girls cross country won a state title with a team score of 136, and Josie Bishop led the way with a time of 19:01.8. Pewamo-Westphalia came in just behind the Cougars with 147 points.

Finally, in Division 4, Hillsdale Academy captured a state title on the boys side with a total of 113 points, and it was Grayson Rorick who led the charge with a time of 15:57.1.
