NEW YORK — Vice President Kamala Harris made an unscheduled visit to New York on Saturday, only to briefly get away from battleground states just three days before Election Day.

Harris took off on Air Force Two from Charlotte, North Carolina, Saturday evening and was scheduled to fly to Detroit.

A campaign official told reporters aboard Air Force Two mid-flight that Harris was taking a detour to New York but would later travel to Detroit before a campaign appearance Sunday on the battlefield of Michigan.

The campaign did not immediately provide details on what Harris would do in Michigan.
