Former GM pushes Tennessee Titans to explore QB trade

THE Tennessee Titans We’re in a really weird situation right now.

After Will Levis showed signs of being a long-term starter as a rookie, he did everything but inspire confidence with the way he played in year two.

That has led some to think they should look for a new quarterback before the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday.

One name that has come up repeatedly is the former No. 1 overall pick and current Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young. Some believe he could be available at the right price, and the Titans are a team that has been considered a potential landing spot for him.

Former NFL general manager Rick Spielman is now also urging Tennessee consider pursuing a career for Young.

“Isn’t Levis the answer, right? Mason Rudolph isn’t the answer, is he?” » Spielman said. “I’d just like to explore it, that’s all I’m saying. I’m thinking outside the box.”

Young would not be acquired to immediately become the franchise quarterback. He would be required to ensure competition between him and Lévis. Two young quarterbacks competing for a starting job would be a perfect scenario to help both players try harder to reach their full potential.

So far, to start his career with the Panthers, Young has played in 21 games, completing 59.8 percent of his pass attempts for 3,400 yards, 13 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He also had 285 yards and a score on the ground.

Obviously, these numbers aren’t great. Young is also heading toward the “bust” label, as is Levis this season.

However, it is still far too early to make a final decision regarding Young. It is also too early to say anything definitive about Lévis.

At just 23 years old, Young would be worth taking a flyer assuming the price isn’t too steep. If he’s available and the price makes sense, the Titans should absolutely be interested.

That being said, this is not a likely scenario. Young people probably won’t be traded. But if that’s the case, Tennessee would make sense as a potential destination.
