Regina Elections: Here’s What You Need to Know

Voting day for Regina’s municipal and school elections is fast approaching. Here’s everything you need to know before Election Day.

To be eligible to vote, you must be a Canadian citizen at least 18 years old on election day, reside in Saskatchewan for at least six consecutive months and be a resident of Regina or have owned land in the municipality for at least at least least three months.

Here’s what else you need to know before you vote.

Who is running in this election?

Regina residents will be able to vote for the mayor, municipal councilors and school commissioners.

Including incumbent Mayor Sandra Masters, there are 11 candidates for mayor. A total of 19 names will be on the ballot for the city’s public school board trustee positions, 11 names are on the ballot for the city’s separate school boards and 52 candidates are vying for the positions of municipal councilors in 10 different districts.

How do I know which neighborhood and school subdivision I am in?

HAS know which district and which school subdivision you are in, you can consult the 2024 district map here. A review of ward boundaries recently took place, so new boundaries are in effect for the 2024 elections.

Do I need to register?

Yes, Regina voters must be registered. If you want to vote, you can print and complete a voter registration form and take it to your polling station. Forms will also be available at polling stations.

When can I vote?

Although Election Day is November 13, voters have the opportunity to vote during advance voting from November 1 to 4. Eligible voters can vote at any advance polling location, provided they bring proper identification.

Polling stations will be set up at Regina City Hall, Northgate Shopping Centre, North West Recreation Centre, South Recreation Center and Victoria Square Shopping Centre, and will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. .

There will also be a drive-thru voting station at Regina City Hall, open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Voters should enter from 12th Avenue on Smith Street. An advance polling station will also be open in the URSU multipurpose hall at the University of Regina, Riddell Center, on November 4 only.

What should I bring?

Voters will need to bring either a government-issued photo ID or two government IDs with their name and at least one with their address.


Other acceptable forms of identification are passports, birth certificates, social insurance cards and any other identification issued by the Government of Canada, the Government of Saskatchewan, a municipality of Saskatchewan, a school division or an Indian band of the Saskatchewan, or the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan.

Can I vote by post?

Yes, eligible voters have the option to request the mailing of their ballot, which must be received at the Elections Regina office by 8 p.m. on polling day to be counted.

You can request an absentee ballot online, by email, by mail, by fax, or in person at the Elections Regina office. Once completed, it can be mailed to the Elections Regina office or dropped off.

The City of Regina will offer free public transit and paratransit on Election Day, which includes round-trip travel.
