Downtown Barrie prepares for Remembrance Day and holiday events

The Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11 will be followed by the lighting of the Christmas tree on November 16.

Downtown Barrie was radiant with perfect fall weather, vibrant colors and a season full of vibrant community events.

This year’s Open Air Meridian series of events was a lot of fun, including Culture Days, Thanksgiving, and the Halloween/Ofrenda celebration, which filled downtown with a mix of art, heritage and family entertainment.

Bringing our community together through upcoming events

Looking ahead, we invite everyone to the region’s largest Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11, which will take place at Memorial Square at Meridian Place.

Soon after, downtown Barrie will transform into a festive wonderland on November 16 with the Noella Tree Lighting Celebration in partnership with the Barrie Chamber Santa Claus Parade, Festival of Rotary trees and the festive decor and fireworks of the City of Barrie. This weekend features live music, a festive market, a tree park, ornamental art activities, inflatables and more, plus a stunning fireworks display to kick off the season holidays.
