Ceremony marks 29th anniversary of Kilkenny woman’s disappearance

A ceremony will take place next Saturday (November 9) at the Missing Persons Monument in the Castle grounds in memory of Kilkenny woman Jo Jo Dullard, who was missing for 29 years in November.

To mark the anniversary a walk and a service to remember Jo Jo will take place at 2 p.m., gathering in the courtyard of Kilkenny Castle and marching to the Missing Persons Monument.

“It is important to keep The memory of Jo Jo living in our hearts and prayers,” said Father Willie Purcell who, along with the Kilkenny Gospel Choir, will lead the walk and service for Jo Jo. Every year on her birthday, Jo Jo’s family, friends, relatives and neighbors gather at the monument to remember and to hope and pray that she will be spoken to. This is an opportunity for all of us to come together 29 years later to ensure that Jo Jo is not forgotten and that her search continues,” he said.

Jo Jo Dullard went missing aged 29 in November. Jo Jo was 21 years old at the time of her disappearance. At the time of her disappearance, she was leaving Dublin to return home to Callan in County Kilkenny. The last known sighting of her was when she made a phone call from a telephone box in Moone Co Kildare.
