    Scrapper Sisters Announce New Team Driver Ahead of Las Vegas Strip

    The Scrappers Sisters have announced the expansion of their song lineup. Welcoming Top Fuel driver Travis Shumake to its ranks, the team is ready to add new energy to the team as it heads to the Ford Performance at the NHRA Nationals at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

    Comprised of Top Fuel rookie Jasmine Salinas and Pro Stock motorcycle racer Jianna Evaristo, the Scrappers team is loaded with talent. Since taking over the position due to her father Mike Salinas’ medical leave, Jasmine Salinas has come through her freshman year strong, but her performance hasn’t always been as high as she wanted.

    Jianna Evaristo, on the other hand, is enjoying what could be described as a career high. Driving Valley Services Scrappers Racing Pro Stock Motorcycle, her preparation under Matt Smith Racing has prepared her for a potential breakthrough in Las Vegas, via Drag Illustrated.

    “I love competing in Las Vegas. It’s a fantastic facility and I think we’re peaking at the right time. The learning never stops and I love the challenge, but I’m ready to bring this Buell in the winner’s circle.”

    For Travis Shumake, joining the Scrappers team marks a big chapter in his evolving drag racing career. Travis, whose heritage dates back to his father, Tripp Shumake, a famous NHRA Funny Car driver, brings with him a deep history.

    After stepping away from drag racing following the tragic death of his father in 1999, Travis reignited his racing ambitions in 2021. As the NHRA’s first openly gay driver, his commitment to inclusion and diversification within the sport is as celebrated as his professional endeavors.

    This event will be Travis’ fourth start of the season in his Gillette Labs Top Fuel dragster. He won’t be a rookie candidate in the competitive Rookie of the Year fray.

    The Ford Performance NHRA Nationals at the Strip promises to be an eventful campaign, stretching from October 31 to November 3 in Las Vegas. Fans can expect qualifying sessions on November 1 and 2, leading to eliminations starting at 11:00 a.m. on November 3.
