Predators sign Ozzy Wiesblatt to two-year contract extension

THE Nashville Predators have signed Ozzy Wiesblatt to a two-year contract extension worth $775,000 at the NHL level.

THE Predators announced it was a two-way deal, meaning Wiesblatt’s salary will be below the AHL level.

Wiesblatt, 22, is currently assigned to the Predators’ AHL team in Milwaukee. He played six games for the Admirals this season, recording two assists and 12 shots on goal. He was originally acquired by Nashville from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Egor Afanasyev.

A former first-round pick selected 31st overall in 2020, Wiesblatt has yet to make his NHL debut. In 107 career AHL games, he has 12 goals and 25 assists.

Wiesblatt would have been a restricted free agent in 2025, but this contract extends his stay in Nashville until 2027.

Although the decision is unlikely to have any impact on the Predators’ current struggles, who are now 3-6-1 after losing 5-1 to the Edmonton Oilers On Thursday, Wiesblatt could be an important depth option moving forward.
