Kushan Empire Status

“Kushan is a vast multiracial nation comprising a multitude of races,” Silat explains. “The leaders of the different clans will come together and decide the policy for the country as a whole based on their views. The consensus is that Ganishka lost because he neglected Kurultai with his dictatorship and therefore we cannot make the same mistake again.” If you need a refresher, Ganishka was the ancient emperor of Kushan who was also a disciple of the Divine Hand. Seeking to take over the world and even become more powerful than Godhand himself, Ganishka was defeated thanks to Griffith and Guts doing the unthinkable by teaming up.

Silat also takes the opportunity to explain why Kushan has endured as a nation for so long: “Since ancient times we have experienced the upheavals of our rulers being overthrown in horrible conflicts, we have continued to march on a long and thick history of wars. Now the difference in the number of corpses piled up. None of us would kneel before these evil man-eating demons.

A traitor revealed

As the Kushan Empire gathers to consider their next attack on the Band of the Hawk, this chapter ends on a chilling note. The “Chief of the Northern Clan of Kushan” is revealed to be a demon in disguise, revealing himself to be none other than Rakshas. If you’re unfamiliar with the masked ghoul, the assassin works for Griffith only to have the best chance of killing the White Falcon for himself. Unfortunately for Guts and company, it appears that Rakshas is determined to cause serious damage to Kushan’s attack plans. Since the next chapter is titled “The Beginning of a Tragedy,” things aren’t looking great for the anime’s heroes.

Following the tragic death of Kentaro Miura, the artist’s friends took over the reins of Berserk to Kouji Mori and the artists of Studio Gaga. Fortunately, Miura and Gaga prove that Guts and Griffith’s potential endgame is worth the wait, as this latest installment is one of the team’s best yet.
