Demi Moore had quite the Halloween surprise for fans of The bottom.

To celebrate the release of her horror film on MUBI, the actress decided to share four shocking behind-the-scenes photos from the set of her latest critically acclaimed film.

“Spoiler alert I’m saving these gems from @trythesubstance and today seems like the appropriate day to share them,” Moore, 61, wrote via Instagram on Thursday October 31. “Happy Halloween from Elisabeth Sparkle THE SUBSTANCE is officially released today on @mubi!

In the photos, Moore appears unrecognizable as she undergoes a transformation with heavy makeup and prosthetics designed to make her look like an elderly woman with minimal hair and sagging body parts.

Other photos show Moore holding her micro-Chihuahua, Pilaf. In another, she takes a creepy selfie while being splattered in fake blood.

In The bottomMoore plays Elisabeth Sparkle, an actress fired from her TV fitness show because she’s too old. Hoping to recapture her youth, she takes a black market drug to create an alternate, younger version of herself, played by Marguerite Qualley.

Things quickly take a horrific turn as the two women fight for time in the spotlight.

Moore spoke candidly about how a talented team was able to completely change her look to play Elisabeth Sparkle. During filming The bottomMoore expenses recalled time in a makeup chair to several hours of grotesque prosthetic work to transform her face and body.

“I sat in the chair between six and nine-thirty hours, with a good two hours to get it off,” she said Seth Meyers in September. “It’s a lot easier to read on paper, but I’m so glad I had this experience.”

As the film continues to receive positive reviews, Moore feels grateful for the opportunity to play a unique character who will leave moviegoers captivated from start to finish.

She won’t let her grow old either prevent it from reaching new heights in his personal and professional life.

“I really try to be as present in the moment as possible, and what I feel is an excitement of possibilities, that we are defining a new – I don’t want to say generation – but we are what the future is for women,” Moore shared on the. September 9 episode of Today. “For me, this is the most exciting time of my life. It is.”
