City releases more details on replacement of nine bridges in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – On Wednesday, KCTV5 learned that the Country Club Plaza would benefit from four new bridges over Brush Creek thanks to a federal grant. Kansas City will also replace five other bridges in parts of the city.

The City announced Thursday morning that nine bridges would be replaced as part of the $40 million Bridge Investment Program (BIP) grant. The City of Kansas City will provide a local contribution of $10 million, representing a total investment of $50 million.

The following bridges will be replaced:

  • 112th Street above the Fishing River
  • Pleasant Valley Road over Big Shoal Creek
  • 12th Street on Big Blue River
  • Belleview Avenue above Brush Creek
  • Roanoke Parkway over Brush Creek
  • Benton Boulevard above Brush Creek
  • Elmwood Avenue above Brush Creek
  • Gregory Boulevard above Big Blue River
  • Hillcrest Road above Small Creek

“The upcoming bridge repair projects aren’t just about fixing crumbling bridges, they’re about reconnecting our neighborhoods, improving access to jobs and resources, and unlocking continued economic growth for our entire city “, said Mayor Quinton Lucas. “We will continue to find ways to better connect our neighborhoods and build a stronger, safer community for everyone. »

The timeline for the bridge replacement project has not been released, but city leaders are expected to announce more details Friday.
