Janelle Monáe and Lizzo top this year’s 2024 celebrity Halloween costumes

When it comes to Halloween, celebrities are just like us, but with lots of money and access to top designers and makeup artists.

Stars are showing off some awesome and bizarre costumes to mark the occasion this year.

Actress and musician Janelle Monáe creates buzz online after appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show Wednesday in full prosthetics, dressed as ET, the alien from Steven Spielberg’s classic 1982 film AND the alienwith a luminous fingertip.

Some called the costume scary and disturbing, but fans applauded it, with many calling it the best costume of the year.

A user wrote on social media platform X, “This woman outdoes herself in one way or another every year and is hands down my favorite.”

Monáe is known for extravagant halloween costumes and was just as unrecognizable last year, decked out like a colorful chameleon. THE Make me feel the singer has dressed up as a long list of characters in recent years, including the alien Diva Plavalaguna from the 1997 sci-fi film The fifth element and Jim Carrey’s character in the 1994 comedy The mask.

Monáe said Vogue she plans her costumes years in advance, and said an anonymous benefactor pays them.

Model Heidi Klum, who has also gained a reputation for her stunning outfits – notably her 2022 worm costume – hasn’t yet revealed her look for her annual Thursday night Halloween party, but has said will be “extraterrestrial” and heavy on prostheses.

Lizzo took the opportunity to make a statement last weekend, firing back at a press conference in May. South Park episode which satirized the popularity of weight loss drugs like Ozempic and contained a fraudulent advertisement for a product named Lizzo.

Lizzo’s post linked to the website selling a sculpture of a similar character called Hunny Bunny, suggesting it was a promotional move.

But on Thursday, she opted for a more recognizable look, going all-in on the role of the title character in Tim Burton’s 1990 film. Edward Scissorhands.

Singer Pixie Lott impressed her followers in another of this year’s most involved outfits, attending a party last weekend dressed as the trendy cocktail Aperol spritz, complete with a hat made to look like an orange slice.

Some opted for more classic looks.

Singer Mariah Carey posted a TikTok dressed as a witch, while filmmaker and actor M. Night Shyamalan took on Batman villain The Joker for a party he threw last weekend.

Singer/actress Selena Gomez and her boyfriend, musician Benny Blanco, dressed like Alice and the Mad Hatter, respectively, from the 2010 film adaptation of Alice in Wonderland.

pretty Little Liars actress Lucy Hale kept things simple, teaming up with her dogs in a fuzzy onesie in honor of the 1990s children’s TV show Lamb Chop Play-Along.
