There’s Some Unexpected Chicago Fire Drama Coming After Chief Boden Leaves, But Now I Can Totally Understand Why

Chicago Fire entered a new era in autumn TV schedule 2024 with season 13 premiering the drama without Eamonn Walker on board as Chief Boden. Instead, Firehouse 51 operates under the leadership of chef Dom Pascal, played by A Chicago new arrival Dermot Mulroney. Friction was to be expected when firefighters and paramedics faced a new chief for the very first time, but some of Mulroney’s comments shed what I see as new light on the status quo at 51 as the season continues.

To be honest – when the news first broke, Fire had chosen Dermot Mulroney as new leader Rather than honoring Boden’s wish that Herrmann be his successor, part of me assumed that Mulroney’s time would be limited to the time it would take for Herrmann to be promoted in season 13. Just as he wouldn’t there was no doubt that Brett Dalton’s Lieutenant Pelham temporarily held the position on Truck until Stella Kidd was ready to become lieutenant in season 10, Pascal seemed like he wasn’t destined to stay. (You can revisit the streaming of the Pelham/Kidd arc with a Peacock Subscription.)
