Here’s What Drew Can Do to Save His Political Campaign on General Hospital

The secret of General Hospital is revealed. Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) admitted to Michael Corinthos (temporarily played by Robert Adamson) that he kissed Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen). He had no choice as he ended up in a bar fight with a drunk Cody Bell (Josh Kelly), who let it slip that Drew had kissed Willow while sleeping with her mother, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros ).

Drew’s congressional bid is now in trouble as the news spreads like wildfire, but there’s one thing he should have done all along to help him win.

An ace up his sleeve

Even until recently, whenever Willow talks starry-eyed about Drew, she mentions that he saved her life. She refers to the fact that when she had leukemia, she needed a bone marrow transplant, and Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) it was a perfect match. However, Obrecht had been kidnapped by the villainous Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) when he carried out his evil plan to release a pathogen that would kill 80% of the world’s human population.

Fortunately, a group of Port Charles heroes led by Laura Collins (Genie Francis) thwarted Victor’s plan, Obrecht was rescued, and Willow’s life was saved thanks to the transplant. Drew was on that team.

So saying that Drew saved her life is technically true, but it was a group effort, and not just Willow but all of human civilization was saved. This is an ace up his sleeve that Drew should use in his political campaign. Everyone in Port Charles seems to have forgotten the fact that they were inches from death and it was a team that saved them all.

When the secret of his kiss with Willow is revealed to the general public, coupled with the fact that he is sleeping with her mother, it will spell the end of his political career. While the media will talk about this scandal like ants on sugar cubes, all he has to do is stand on the podium and say:

Yeah. It was me. I helped save the world

Drew should tell the story of what happened and all will be forgiven. Sure, his opponent will continue to dig up Drew’s dirty laundry, but say it with us:

He saved the world!

This should supersede anything else and would probably make him a favorite. However, he is completely against his morals by doing what he is doing with Willow and Nina, and he must re-evaluate his moral compass to be the honest politician he claims to be. To that end, his contribution to saving the world would have a huge impact on anyone looking for an idealist to vote for.
