Stolen gun seized, man charged after threats complaint in Mississauga

A Sudbury-area man is facing weapons and other charges after police responded to a threatening complaint in Mississauga on Tuesday.

Peel Regional Police said officers recovered a stolen handgun as part of their investigation, which followed a complaint of threats in the Mississauga Valleys area of ​​the city.

A subsequent search warrant executed by police resulted in the recovery of the stolen gun, police said.

Nigel Rampersad, 36, from Chelmsford, northwest of Sudbury, is charged with:

  • uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm (three counts)
  • knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • careless storage of a firearm, prohibited device or ammunition (two counts)
  • unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • own a firearm with an altered serial number
  • possession of a firearm contrary to order (two counts)

He was held for a bail hearing in Brampton court.
