First Onsite fits perfectly into a category of companies that directly help people through difficult times in their lives. “People are attracted to the restoration industry because it provides a unique opportunity to help people, businesses and communities recover and rebuild after disasters,” Pearson said. Commenting on the index’s findings related to meaningful work, she added “However, once they join an organization, employees seek both external purpose and internal growth. They want to develop their skills, progress in their career and feel valued Organizations need to reach their employees where they feel valued and support them as they grow.

Expanding on the index findings, Pearson highlighted the importance of expanding “duty of care” to encompass employee wellbeing, growth and development. She also believes that to attract and retain top talent, leadership teams and managers must understand the individual needs and aspirations of their employees.

“It’s one thing to attract the right candidates to an organization. It’s a whole other set of challenges to ensure their sense of well-being and purpose are met,” Pearson said.
