North Cornwall MP Ben Maguire met with representatives from Padstow Borough Council, Go Cornwall Bus and Cornwall Council ahead of tonight’s meeting, following growing concerns in the town over the removal of the stop bus station Railway Car Park.

He said the idea was to seek to explore a collaborative solution that respected the needs of local residents, tourists and the council’s concerns.

The Lib Dem MP for the area said: “On Thursday (October 24) I held a roundtable discussion with Padstow Borough Council, Go Cornwall Bus and Cornwall Council to explore workable solutions to maintain the bus stop. lower bus service in Padstow so residents are able to fully access local buses.

“This was a very constructive meeting where all parties recognized the importance of the shutdown for locals and tourists, and all agreed that a collaborative approach would be required to find a viable solution to the problem.

“As a direct result of the meeting, a formal letter of intent will be sent to City Council to assure them that all interested parties will work tirelessly to implement a solution that addresses both their concerns and the needs of the community. local population. .

“The city council is scheduled to meet on Tuesday to consider delaying the closure of the stop until February to allow this work to be completed – a proposal that has my full support.”
