Paul Weller ditched her long blonde hair for her acting debut in the Oscar-winning film Blitz.

Fans were blown away when a clip from the legend of Jam, 66 years old, in the abandoned role Hello Great Britain Today.

The Going Underground hitmaker plays Gerald in the Steve McQueen-directed World War II film.

Blitz centers on a family: grandfather Gerald and his daughter Rita (Saoirse Ronan) and his grandson, protagonist George (played by newcomer Elliot Heffernan) – who live in the East End during Nazi Germany’s bombing campaign of 1940-41.

Set to music by Hans Zimmer, the film – which Metro rated five stars – follows young George as he struggles with his evacuation from the country and returns home to Stepney Green.

“My mother was evacuated as a child during the war. I was only born 18 years after the war ended, so it was still fresh in the minds of that generation, not to mention my grandparents, who had lived through the First and Second World Wars.

Although it was based in wartime London, scenes were filmed in Hull, as the streets of the northern city were suddenly transported to the 1940s, complete with vintage posters and old red buses.

Blitz is released in UK cinemas on November 1 and will then be available to stream on Apple TV+ on November 22.
