School bus crash near Tisdale injures students, RCMP say

RCMP say they are investigating a school bus crash that occurred Monday afternoon near Tisdale, a town about 200 kilometers northeast of Saskatoon. The bus was carrying students at the time, RCMP said.

RCMP said the adult driver of the school bus suffered non-life-threatening injuries and that some children were being treated for various injuries, but did not provide specific details on their injuries or how many children who had to be hospitalized.

The release said the RCMP could not confirm the number or ages of the children. STARS Air Ambulance confirmed they responded to the crash and transported a patient to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. This would not confirm the age of this person.

He said the bus was in a ditch at the time.

Tisdale RCMP said the single-vehicle crash happened around 3:55 p.m. CST near an intersection about 22 kilometers southwest of Tisdale.

Police say the children’s families have been informed.

Officers continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist, police say.
