WESTON, Wis. (WSAW) – High temperatures that ended the golf season led to crowded tee times at Crane Meadows Golf Course on Tuesday.

With temperatures stay in the 70s For most of the day, employees said late fall Tuesday was busier than usual.

“A lot of times we open this late, but not with weather like this,” said Gary Isaacson, a part-time employee at Crane Meadows Golf Course. “Today we are full. We have tee time open all day, it’s at 3 p.m. All day long people were calling us and many were disappointed when we told them there were no tee times left, sorry.

The warm, dry weather at the end of the season also helps offset the wetter days of early summer.

“It was a huge help because earlier in the summer we had so much rain and we lost, I think, 30 or 31 days to rain this summer,” Isaacson said. “So making up for the loss of revenue in the fall has been very beneficial to the course.”

Golfers took advantage of the extra days of sunshine.

“The place is just packed. We had to wait a little, a little longer because everyone is there, but it’s worth it,” said longtime golfer Dave Sims. “I’m happy for the golf course because on a day like this they (the courses) can really come together, and that’s good, we don’t want anyone to close their doors.”

Sims said he hasn’t seen a season like this in a while.

“It’s been a really good season, not a lot of rain, so it’s good for us to start the journey, but it’s been really nice and quite long this year,” Sims added. “We’ve had a few seasons that were a lot like this one, but they’re very rare.”

Tuesday also marks the official end of the season at Crane Meadows Golf Course. However, for many, this was not the case.

“It doesn’t feel like it’s the end of the season. Normally it’s cold and people are here with caps and jackets,” Isaacson said. “I think everyone is disappointed that it’s closing because it’s so nice. It’s been a great and fantastic year, so we can’t wait for everyone to come back next year!
