Minnesota man charged in La Crosse drive-by shooting

LA CROSSE COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) – In Rochester, Minnesota. man charged in La Crosse drive-by shooting is condemned.

Court records show Deandrew Grant, 32, is sentenced to a total of 32 years in prison and 8 years of extended supervision.

Court records show that in September 2024, Grant pleaded guilty to charges of Attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide with Use of a Dangerous Weapon Modifier, Substantial Assault – Intent to Do Bodily Harm with Use of a dangerous weapon, 1st degree recklessly endangering safety with use of a dangerous weapon and possessing a firearm – convicted of out-of-state felony with use of a dangerous weapon. All remaining counts were dismissed and read.

According to the criminal complaint, on June 17, 2023, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of ​​Politos Pizza, 116 3rd Street S, La Crosse. When police arrived, they found several people injured in a possible shooting.

The criminal complaint states that a vehicle, registered to Grant, is seen traveling northbound on 3rd Street, directly in front of Politos Pizza, on camera when the window of Politos’ front door is broken by gunshots. In the video, the driver of the vehicle appeared to be using his left hand to drive the vehicle, while his right hand was firing a handgun out of the driver’s window toward Politos.

The criminal complaint states a total of five spent shell casings were found approximately in the middle of 100 3rd Street South.

According to the criminal complaint, the front door of Polito’s Pizza was blown out and the window directly to the right of the front door was broken with two bullet holes passing through the glass. Bullet fragments were found inside Polito’s Pizza as well as blood in several different areas inside.

The criminal complaint says authorities recovered the handgun believed to have been used.

Authorities confirmed seven victims were shot. No deaths have been reported.
